Science Program

Foundation – Year 2 SCIENCE

Early Years Science is delivered as a specialist subject, with students participating in 100 minutes of science per week.

All programming is aligned to the Australian Curriculum with student learning covering the three strands:

  • Science Understandings:Biological, Chemical, Earth and Space and Physical sciences.
  • Science as a Human Endeavour:Science in our everyday lives, how Science affects decision making in the community, historical events and famous scientists.
  • Science Inquiry Skills:Planning and conducting fair tests, carrying out measurements & observations and communicating results.

Our dedicated Junior Primary Science Teacher is Ferida Resuli.

YEARS 3-6 SCIENCE – PRIMARY YEARS

In Years 3 to 6, Science is taught as a specialist subject with a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Students engage in a double lesson each week, with each session lasting 100 minutes. This structure is designed to allow learners to go deep with their learning and enhance their scientific investigation skills in accordance with the Australian Curriculum.

Our dedicated Primary Science Teacher is Michelle Toumazos.

  • Science Inquiry Skills:Investigating ideas, developing explanations, solving problems, drawing valid conclusions, evaluating claims and constructing evidence based arguments. Learners also identify and pose questions, plan, conduct and reflect on invesigations, process, analyse and interpret evidence as well as communicate their findings.
  • Planning and conducting fair tests, carrying out measurements & observations and communicating results
